I've been trying to find an outbound and inbound load before I book either one. I can go broke at home farming. I don't have to work extra to do it.

Ya but not all freight goes back home. ;)

Unless you're living in your truck of course,..

First stop using the term "back haul".

Farmerbob1 and John E. Thank this.

About every time I've seen something that they'll actually call a back haul they barely want to pay to have it moved.

    Farmerbob1, slow.rider and Jaebo74 Thank this.

Not sure who you're talking about. Destination freight almost always pays less on average than "willing to go anywhere" freight. And the last thing I'd do when inquiring with a broker is tell them I'm looking for a backhaul. I imagine when they hear that, their first thought must be, "aha, I've got him over a barrel."

Exactly my point, it's interpreted as "I'll haul it for the cost of fuel." There's a guy local here gets potting soil out of PA every year and always wants to know if we're looking for a backhaul, and thinks it should be done for 1.15 or so a mile.

Brokers posts a load with a rate. I'll call, and we talk about the load. They get excited and ask if they can send me a rate con. I say first we need to talk about the rate. Sure takes the wind out of their sails.

Ah, now I get the joke. I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes. I thought you were saying the opposite somehow. Lol.
