I can see it being faster, but only if your trailer has rope hooks. If you had to thread it around spools and through the d-rings I would imagine that bungees would be faster?

The thing is is that in some situations bungees are more ideal and in some situations rope is more ideal. A lot of it comes down to your equipment and some of it I suppose comes down to your freight. -
Another thing you can do is get a spool of 3/8 three strand poly rope, cut it into two foot sections, or whatever is appropriate, splice a small eye into each end of the pieces and you have instant bungee cord extenders. If you don't have a lot of old S-hooks you can thread one end of the jumper through the hole on the other end.
Always keep an eye out for broken bungees and salvage the old s hook for future use.
If you don't splice, check this out. It's really easy.
If you have some old cable you can weave an eye into the end. Just don't use it for overhead lifting.
