Lots of ####ty advice that's for sure I feel sorry for you for even asking for help.
Usually the insurance company wants the drug tests.
If you get in a serious accident they will test you and it will look bad if you have marijuana in your system, especially. Don't listen to these cry babies about the pandemic you're more safe being a long haul trucker than most jobs. You're not going to make money writing a book and getting a hobby, which was quite possibly the stupidest thing I've heard in a while. Don't be concerned about going to America the roads are much better there and you will enjoy driving there more than in Canada if you get West coast runs and South. Try and find a company that goes to Texas a lot that's a good run
So for now just quit smoking marijuana be an alcoholic like most of the guys on this forum and most truck drivers these days. Just be careful about drinking in the night and then driving in the morning as they have breathalyzer tests at weigh stations in Ontario due to the heavy drinking of truck drivers. Also who the hell wants to wear work boots driving long haul all day how uncomfortable I'll stick to my sandals never had a problem in 12 years. If my truck catches fire and I burn my feet I'll blame myself.
If you have over 3 years experience call Hilton transport they have California runs right now just be prepared to do more than one pickup and drop it's about a 14-day trip all together.
Looking to go long haul for the first time (local driving since I got my license) any tips?

People who can’t save money on the road can’t do it at home either. Being fiscally conservative is easy. Don’t spend it. It’s always easier to spend less than earn more of it.

Pay for a drug test on your own before getting DOT drug test.
I know people who tested positive for pot more than 90 days after their last high.
Better to be safe than sorry. -
