Permit a combine

Machine and tires can go on the same load/permit... There is guidance somewhere that states something about this not falling under divisible even with the tires removed from the machine... But the crate may be an issue... I'm not sure though.

Like everything else, it depends on the state. There isn’t a hard nationwide rule for OSOW. The crate would be a no go with a overweight permit.

 

we regularly haul case combines from grandisland NE to western canada with tires and the crate. all the tires on the back deck and the crate on the front. this works for NE, SD, an ND. in spring only ND has weight restrictions for the drive axles with out huge $$$. so with all the parts were around 85-87 depending on model of machine.

its funny. we must haul JD combines without the tires. IL does not allow it. even though its just across the river into IA there is a scale before IA! so a step deck will go and get the tires ahead of time and deliver them to a dealer. its a PITA really. some carriers load the combine onto a lowpro step deck and take the tires with them. the deck alows them to get by weight wise. crazy to me though.
