Tug test is not a check for connection, it is a brake check

When you hook, you tug. That is not the tug test. Tug test is done once hooked with gear up. If that is your only tug test, you will end up with a trailer taking a bow if not connected. Technically they do say it is a brake check with 5th wheel attachment check, but the purpose is brakes, not attachment, since you have already pulled on the pin before gear up and lines on, and done your visual on the jaw and clearance.

I mean your not wrong. In my defense that was about 8 days after i bought it. Wasn't expecting to need to look for hairline cracks with an 8 day old inspection.

I never thought about sabotage. Ill have to add that to my wakeup routine. I give someone credit if they want to get covered in grease to prove a point.

Used to manage a wrecker service. The mysterious pulled 5thwheel happens often.

I do the same I had one drop on me in the yard a couple of years back. I even get out again sometimes if I thought I forgot (age is creeping up lol). A few weeks back I saw a post one came unattached on the road. We thank the Lord it was no injuries

Those annual inspections are not worth the paper they are written on. Don't mean a #### thing. But we are told we must have them. If your have experience of 1 years with said equipment you can self certify to do your own. You do not even have to own the equipment. Plus brake inspection cert. Which is available from institution's, or again self certification with experience.

I wonder how many are actual sabotage and how many lack of personal responsibility.
If I was answering to a boss, I might be tempted to deflect blame?

Think of how many drivers are fired by megas, or guys that got screwed out of thier last paycheck are out here. It's not personal to the operator, they are trying to harm the Co. Mostly.

Eh fair point. Not defending myself i should have caught it, only time in 10 years of driving ive dropped a #### trailer most thoroughly humulateing day of my career. My point was more a tug test is not a be all end all seeing as this one did pass both the jolly handle test and the set brake test. As for ernest nahh. Im just too #### parinoid to share my repair bills. WAAAAAY to much personal info for my comfort.
