We all make mistakes. Just learn from it. I bet it never happens again.

Around 2004-06 Fontaine has a batch of brand new 5th wheels. Two things happened. They either unlatched after tug, and visual. Or they just didn't unlatch period. Had to torch jaws, or burn pivots out. Just because its new, isn't a reason to thoroughly do your job.

OOOOOHHHH, good point I guess. Screw the company and cost the father his job... must be a low life POS to do that. I know where the park yard was for my last and only company I drove for, for a short time. Wouldnt take but 2 min to lite them all on fire, and since they self insure it would hurt them without hurting a driver directly. I just dont get hurting a driver to hurt a company.

Oh trust me i was parinoid about hooking up before now i will go over every #### square inch of it after each drop. Likely will from here on out.

To be frank this is a used truck, so when i say new i more mean new to me. Its also a junk heap and is constantly breaking. Who ever owned it before me did a piss poor job of maintaince as i have learned. Hell just dropped $10k on TWO tows, a pair of nox sensors after just replacing those SAME nox sensors 6 days before, a dosser valve, erg cooler, SCR sensor and a few other goodies 3 days ago and i am currently on the side of the road waiting on a $1500 tow because SUPRISE max derate for def quality....again. hit me up in a convo sometime and ill show you some of the #### that has broken on it.

I worry about becoming complacent on the 5th wheel. in 16 years ive never found a 5th wheel defect. Closest ive come is one that will not latch at all. Never found a crack, or a missing bolt.

I would recommend anyone that operates thier own co. To be certified and have on file. Wallet card can also do wonders on the side of the road, and or scale house.

Yup, never buy a paccar again and as soon as i can afford it rip this (insert long string of bannable oaths here) out of my truck and put C15 or 3406E in it then put a boot up my own ### for ever considering an emissions truck?

I never do my own inspections or brakes. I like a second set of eyes looking at everything in case I miss something. Found out last week I need a new s cam bushing, I didnt notice myself.

Best not to become complacent with anything. I have never had one fail on me. But mines is installed, maintained and driven by myself.

I do not run wrecker anymore. But when I did we responded to something like 15-18,000 calls a year. Have no idea how many were dropped trailers. In parking lots, house hold driveways, and right out on the highway. Miles from the drivers last stop. They can hang on, don't allways fall off right away too.
