Lmao, I didn't catch that. I'm also not sure why detouring is considered incorrect lmao.

Four times. Once because I misread a weight limit sign, once because I took a wrong turn into an old neighborhood where the only way out was to back out onto the 4 lane state highway, and twice to stop traffic while I blind side backed off the road into New England mom and pop fireworks shops for their one delivery per year.

If you call them, they tend not to ask too many questions. Just remember, safety is the magic word. Never admit to being in a hurry.

Had a stretch rgn load. Had to cross a small bridge out of the shipper. There was a crown on the bridge. The only way I could make it out was to have enough momentum to drag the bottom of the trailer across the crown in the road. But there was this stop sign. Called the local cops, they sent a car out. I explained to the cop what I needed to do and he stopped all traffic. Easy peasy.

Had a 100 ft long, 14 wide pedestrian walking bridge on a trailer in Illinois. They sent me down this 2 lane because of the construction on 57. I come to a bridge on the 2 lane that was 12 ft wide. Called the highway patrol. Cop shows up, reads my OSOW permit and realizes that I am doing everything right. That bridge was not supposed to be under construction. He has to stop all traffic and we have to back up 2 miles. He called the state and the state gave us another route.

They much rather help you get out of a jam, than to fill out paper work , such as accident or property damage. So far I've not had to call police for help but, give me time. What really stinks , is you think you may be in a place where a call for help may be forthcoming and ( GUESS WHAT ) no signal.

There was a motel somewhere in NC that I used to go into for a 34 that had truck parking in the back. I turned left across 3 lanes of traffic into the place and started to the back. The owner came running out and stopped me. Turns out that they were building a addition where the truck parking was and my only way out was to back out. I called the locals and they came out and were pissed. At the owner. Told me this was around the tenth time they had got called out for the same thing and the owner was supposed to put a big no truck parking sign out front. I didn't tell them how many drivers I thought would read such a sign. They stopped 3 lanes of traffic on both sides and I got out of there. The owner was still getting his butt chewed when I left.

I’ve been in a lot of jams. I wouldn’t hesitate to call if needed. I’m usually trying to get out of it, before someone else calls the cops. I pulled into a delivery, construction site, at night, low power line, tore it off the pole, got stuck between Truck and Trailer. Called cops. They called the power company. Everyone was polite, no ticket.
