In that 2nd link it shows the overhead of mile marker 122. If they were westbound and the road is curving left, it would make sense that maybe the driver fell asleep and went straight. Resulting in rear ending the trailer. Especially considering it was 6:04 am and likely had been up all night driving. Lots of speculation but seems to fit the story.

Horrible. So sorry for your massive loss.

I noticed in the link that @Midwest Trucker provided, it stated that the truck driver was cited for being illegally parked. Was that stupid idiot taking a break on the shoulder?

I'm not jumping to conclusions but he probably was. I see more and more of this every day. Seems like it has really taken off in the last year or so. I can't believe anyone would jeopardize THEIR OWN safety doing it, not to mention everyone else's. Find an off ramp, at least!

Saw one guy pulled off last week, curtain pulled (what a fool) about a half a mile before a rest area. This was during the day, rest area basically empty.

Yeah it was west bound and that’s what we where thinking called the state police and haven’t gotten anything we want to know the truck company or the DOT number I work for a moving company doing long hauls and it amazes me some of the things I heard this guy did had no signals out no hazards lights off and on a dangerous curve wicked smart

    Quite possible.
No lights & no triangles out, he could be considered illegally parked. Landstar got hammered for that scenario a few years back.

I would bet lawyers are also involved and that is one reason why the info hasn't been released to the public as of yet.

    Totally agree.

Truck drivers are getting worse too. Had 2 instances today moving over to the left lane for a breakdown and then a construction vehicle on the shoulder.

I’m doing 72, and both times had an 18 charge up the inside, ignoring pass on left, let alone the hazard on the shoulder.

Both - errr, recent immigrants. California and Illinois.

Yeah it’s crazy no one seems to have any care for people when driving and they make driving a lot more dangerous
