Out with the old Carpet... in with alternate flooring

It is really not that thick, 3.8 mm a bit thicker than 1/8 inch.

I know some people are putting those foam puzzle style mats under it in truck but I really didn’t want to mess with that. The cork underlayment is 1/8 so this floor is a bit lower than stock carpet with the Killmat and the underlayment and the vinyl.

My transmission cover for example will have a little gap. I will just put some close cell foam under it to fill the gap when I clean it up and install it.

What is cool so far is when you drop something on hard laminate it is loud. When you drop something on this it makes a more dull thud.

I’m definitely far from an expert with wood or vinyl junk but we will see how it holds up. The peddle area is no fun lol.

 

I’ll review how it does after my next trip. Then of course if it starts falling apart I’ll post up.

The glue strips are pretty darn strong, when you lay it in your house you are supposed to go over it with a big roller. I will roll it as good as I can when I finish the pedal area.

One thing I don’t like about it is if you are drilling holes or cutting it with a disk the dust can collect on glue strips. For the pedal area, I decided to cut out smaller pieces. Form it up, and then take some fresh pieces that I put together and just cut them out after they are already stuck together.

I almost got some aluminum sheet and put a two piece in like what 4 states sells and epoxy coat it. I won’t pay $650 for it. I could probably make it out of metal easier as I was a sheet metal mech in the Navy when I first joined. my dog would probably scratch it up lol
