Just inform your DM that you have been requested to haul only “interesting and descriptive” loads… lol

    Funny you say that.

After I get unloaded today in Parker CO, with my pallets of bagged soil. I’ll be heading to the Lincoln drop yard (499 paid, 495 actual, miles) to grab a conestoga trailer loaded with “crated driveshafts” going to Union Gap WA. The customer uses the driveshafts to power fans to help pollinate and keep diseases down in the apple orchards of Washington.

The load delivers Tuesday 7a-1p. 2022 miles, I have 34 hrs or so, and by Monday night I’ll have 40 roughly.

EDIT: by 40hrs I meant cumulative. I get zero hours until Monday midnight.

I can see why your company does drop/hook loads out of B&D DC's (Four Oaks). I am trying to deliver (live unload) to the DC in Plainfield, IN and it's just as screwed up as Four Oaks is...I may develop a 24 hr flu or sudden food poisoning when I see their name on a preplan.

After a year and a half with FCC, it’s time to move on. FCC is well managed and has some of the best drivers in the industry. Sadly I live in an area where home time is too difficult for them to accomplish without unintended extra days off, followed by brokered loads to get moving. If you are thinking of FCC and live in one of their zones, go for it. I’ve accepted an 11 western job with a significant pay increase and travel lanes very close to home that will include weekly home time and thru the house. My best to all.

Isn’t that rest area weird? I’ve only lived in KC about 3 years and that’s what I’ve gathered from my coworkers too. I guess originally it was a place for freight companies to break and build their turnpike sets. Then they revamped it not too long ago and the rumor was they were gonna put a scale there. Well comin from an end dumper who works in KC, lemme just say, thank God that never came to fruition. And now like you said there’s no rhyme or reason to how anyone parks. It constantly looks like a cluster, and you’re right, from what I can tell it’s just a place for people who drive for out of town carriers to park their cars for the week and whatever junk equipment they don’t want around. There’s been a purple cab over on the east bound side that has been there I’m pretty sure since it was reopened.

Edit: I will say as an add on and a heads up, that it is notorious for DOT to be in there. I guess it’s the last place to nab people before the Kansas Turnpike starts. Which I’ve heard isn’t technically part of the interstate system and is it’s own entity or something. But idk how much of that is true, and I’m too dumb to do any research on it, that’s just what I’ve heard.

This will be and is, my biggest battle thus far. It’s my only complaint.

    Good luck

Time to clear out the riff raff… would make for a great place to shut down for the night before dropping in KC the next morning. But ya, overflowing with parked/stored vehicles. Crazy.

Edit: but being a driver that is not finding good parking for home time, I can’t blame them either. Although it cracks me up that their are actually repairing CMVs there on site… lol … I swear it’s a rental lot… lol

Sorry to see you go but hometime and getting home/OTR around it is important… very important…

I too get a few extra half days off too but feel they make up for then when rolling… again, sorry to see you live a great company like FCC and I’m sure they appreciate your statements about the quality management and drivers here. (totally agree too)

curious, how much CPM increase you are getting beyond the recently announced FCC increases. But again, hometime and ease of getting there and back are very important issues for sure… (just ask my boss lady… lol)
