Company Driver for Prime Inc.

Tell Prime you want a full size truck. If you're told you have to lease to get one, say, "Well, then when my contract is fulfilled, I'll move on somewhere else that has full size trucks."

 

Get 18 months clean, then bail out like a paratrooper.

I have zero good things to say about this company’s business model.

 

I never worked for Prime, so I can’t tell you how they operate.


DO NOT LEASE A TRUCK!
My husband and I run team, we used to work for a smaller trucking company that did help with leasing a truck, they didn’t push it on us. We looked into it and saw that we would be paying $ 4000 to $5000 a month on payments alone. We were on a dedicated route also so by the time we were done paying it we would have a million miles on it. We would also be paying for fuel, maintenance, etc for a little more money.
You need to learn the business and make sure it’s what you want to do before making a commitment to your own truck (when leasing it is not your truck).

We eventually bought a used truck with only $10,000 down and not great credit. We’re leased on to a decent company (the truck is in our name, not the company’s, we can always leave and go someplace else or be completely independent) and make good money. In two more years it’ll be all ours. I just hope it’s still running and the transmission lasts. Repairs are expensive.

 

Avoid the lease like the COVID vaccine, be a company driver like others said for a few years, then re-evaluate, that means buying your own truck and running it under your name.
Prime pays a few extra cents per mile for the lightweights and they do have 1500 watt inverters, YouTube them, they are small and if you are one of those with a lot of crap you will be cramped quick.

 

That will cost him 20 grand plus, most don’t have enough to cover two weeks of fuel and truck payments, I would also go with the lightweight if I went to Prime, I have one of those 80 inch KW sleepers and I hate it way to big. Up to 30 bucks a day adds up.

 

When you are a company driver, the company will get you a loaner truck. They usually suck, but you’re still making money. The load has to get there.
