I'm sure there is an HOS violation in that equation somewhere.

Yeah......The FMCSA and DOT would never suspect such a thing.. BTW.... I think you meant to say" not IF you are running on paper. I got your point.

Oilfield has some exemptions, plus TX has their own intrastate HOS regulations. But I’m not sure how they work.

Not if you’re running local enough to not have to have a logbook at all.
I’m not super familiar with the latest HoS regs since I haven’t driven OTR in years but I’m pretty sure if your under 150 miles from home base terminal you don’t need logs of any kind .

Lol, no they do not. Texas is a nice place to live and drive a truck. 15-hour workdays, 12 hours drive time 3 hours on-duty not driving time. No 1/2 hour break required. Also if you take an hour or two nap in the middle of your day it doesn't count against your total hours for the day. So if your 15 hours were up at 8 pm now it's 10 pm because of your two-hour nap. 8-hour sleeper birth required, the other 2 hours can be put anywhere. So no consecutive 10-hour break required. Cool huh. Yeah, I always enjoyed it when I had a loads pic up and deliver in Texas. Wasn't worried near as much about the half-hour break and drive time if I take too long a break cutting into my hours for the day bs.

The gravel Roads can't be any worse than Michigander paved roads.
