$14,000 a week pay for truckers

Especially now with rates going through the roof, there are regular O/O's not making much less than that. Especially with loads leaving California paying so much. I lucked out this week and found high paying loads leaving and returning to CA.

 

As for this $14,000 per wk. It’s O/O, must also own the trailer. Probably a whole list of requirements, like both truck and trailer can’t be over X years old, truck and trailer set up a certain way, Owner cannot have truck and trailer paid off. O/O follow an assigned crew, you sleep in the truck on the well site if run out of hours(no traveling home allowed). For the money they claim, I bet it won’t come easy.

 

Why does everyone think $14k a week in the oilfield is so unattainable? Why do you think guys flock there when there’s a boom? Do you really think people were living in their trucks, or an RV if they were lucky enough to have a spot to park one, were doing it because it paid the same as OTR rates? That’s why the Bakken and the Permian Basin explode when there’s a boom. People go for the money.

 

Not much different than guys buying new trucks and running team reefer doing no maintenance 3 years in the engine has 750k and is worthless

That used to be true before the sand boxes came around, pneumatic pay is really good under some companies or it used to be. Sand boxes changed that, I was sitting around the pilot in Carlsbad in 2018 listening to sandbox drivers moaning all day long about halliburton. Halliburton made O/O share a chassis so they'd have to sit around the pilot waiting for the other guy to get back. Also the beauty of the boxes is they don't have to pay you detention, they just take your box and tell you to go pick up an empty one 50 miles away at another well site and you do it for free since you're not loaded. I did the boxes as a company driver and saw over 20 amerifield trucks get ripped off this way, they were all furious and they did the same to me but I was getting paid by the hour so I couldn't care less.

Plenty of times I was stuck with a box during a prefill because the guy that operated the forklift ran off. Also the equipment you use to move the boxes sucks, those chassis constantly break. I asked a halliburton forklift operator that had been working them from the start and he told me they were just too long so they all cracked down the middle.

 

Mmmm.Hmmmm. Range is 100 miles? So what then? Battery charge stations every 100 miles?

Those won't draw much power at all. 5,000 trucks all need batteries charged at the same time.

Or will it be Battery swap? Do you get someone else's damaged cracked pos batteries? Who does the swap? Same quality workmen that work at Love's?

Again, what will the facility be like? Room for thousands, and thousands of trucks all need batteries at the same time.

Fortunately you'll only be number 2,437 in line.

It's fantasy land. It's been at Disneyland for as long as I can remember and I'll be 56 soon.

When you're waiting in line for 36 hours to get the batteries charged or changed........is there a place to pee?
