Don't talk common sense, may get in the way of the conspiracy. Then it would get messy to have to change the conspiracy or as they term, move the goalposts. Note: Colds are not necessarily respiratory infections. So masks are useless in this case, without respiratory infection and spread. But hand washing and social distancing would be effective.
I would also add that it may be wise to mask, as many Asian countries folks have, during the seasons for flu, not just to prevent your own spreading but contracting from others.

The first study you site is about colds, not respiratory infections. Useless.

The second link is about face mask wearing in a surgical setting, making judgement on other studies and whether there was any link to contamination of wounds. Conclusion, there was no conclusive evidence and this article really doesn't have anything to do with what we are talking about here in this thread.

So does this mean covering your mouth while coughing or sneezing is no longer required? I don’t want anyone coughing or sneezing in my direction. Or talking and spraying their spitballs my way. Covid or not. It’s common sense. Not even worth arguing. Believe what you want, either way. No matter what anyone says they won’t convince anyone to believe differently. It’s a dead Topic.

A lot of people catch other things while in a hospital. It’s happens quite a lot. They even have special rooms that have negative air pressure, for high risk patients with weak immune systems. So, now that the truth has been exposed, those rooms aren’t necessary, Surgeons wearing masks? Why? Germs can’t spread from tiny airborne saliva droplets. No need to scrub up either. It’s all a big show, to make them seem Professional. Sterile Instruments, who needs them? Anti septics, waste of time. It’s all in a study I read from a Guy who spent a year in a College, that officially repute’s his theories. But he heard it from another Guy that really knows a lot about how germs spread.

Perhaps read the article and do actual research. You’re uneducated and rely on the media for “facts” it’s no wonder the country has gone down hill.

holy #### please stop talking “about colds not respiratory infections”

That one sentence tells me everything I need to know about how you form your opinions.
“The common cold, also known simply as a cold, is a viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory tract
“Other names Cold, acute viral nasopharyngitis, nasopharyngitis, viral rhinitis, rhinopharyngitis, acute coryza, head cold,[1]upper respiratory tract infection”

Okay, I see I was wrong not to categorize colds as respiratory infections. I'm still not seeing the first study you linked as very useful, inconclusive.

This from the CDC is good.
Science Brief: Community Use of Cloth Masks to Control the Spread of SARS-CoV-2 | CDC

Human Studies of Masking and SARS-CoV-2 Transmission
Data regarding the “real-world” effectiveness of community masking are limited to observational and epidemiological studies.

    • An investigation of a high-exposure event, in which 2 symptomatically ill hair stylists interacted for an average of 15 minutes with each of 139 clients during an 8-day period, found that none of the 67 clients who subsequently consented to an interview and testing developed infection. The stylists and all clients universally wore masks in the salon as required by local ordinance and company policy at the time.36
    • In a study of 124 Beijing households with > 1 laboratory-confirmed case of SARS-CoV-2 infection, mask use by the index patient and family contacts before the index patient developed symptoms reduced secondary transmission within the households by 79%.37
    • A retrospective case-control study from Thailand documented that, among more than 1,000 persons interviewed as part of contact tracing investigations, those who reported having always worn a mask during high-risk exposures experienced a greater than 70% reduced risk of acquiring infection compared with persons who did not wear masks under these circumstances.38
    • A study of an outbreak aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt, an environment notable for congregate living quarters and close working environments, found that use of face coverings on-board was associated with a 70% reduced risk.39
    • Investigations involving infected passengers aboard flights longer than 10 hours strongly suggest that masking prevented in-flight transmissions, as demonstrated by the absence of infection developing in other passengers and crew in the 14 days following exposure.40,41

You’re absolutely right. I lack a Formal education. I didn’t go to College like most Truck drivers. Didn’t even finish High School, for that matter. It’s a wonder I can read and write. Somehow I manage. I’m glad we could agree on something. The difference between Us, is that I’m willing to listen to others opinions, and don’t resort to insults and degrading remarks when I disagree with someone. It shows the weakness of your argument.
