Lol! I have never backed into a pole, or anything else with a trailer. BUT.... about 3 weeks ago on Hometime, I backed into a yellow pole in my POV!! A Honda Fit!! A effing rollerskate with a motor, and MORE GLASS than sheet metal. I have been to that restaurant at least 200 times in my life. Put a big ding in the plastic bumper cover. I felt like such an idiot. Pissed me off every time I looked at it before coming back on the road.:D

Let's take it one at a time....

If there was no way to know about it before hand, no biggie. Crap happens. Now if you just watched someone get pulled out of a snowbank and you decided to try it, well that's different. I've actually had a bit of that happen. Parked at a truck stop and the ground was covered in snow. When I got off my 34 the snow had melted and the lot that looked perfectly flat and that I parked next to another truck, was a muddy quagmire. Had to get it pulled out.

Not good, but fairly minor. Hopefully you know you're trucks limitations now (turning radius)

Unless you did something silly like sell it and claim it was stolen, again, not your fault and that's what insurance is for.

This is actually you're biggest problem. It's good there was little damage, but it could have been much more. Hopefully you learned to GOAL, even if you just got done with a 16 hour day and just want to sleep. The day isn't over until the truck is parked. Always, always, always know your environment you are backing into. Either goal, a good look beforehand or whatever to know where everything is in relation to your truck.

For some they happen on an almost weekly basis. Those same people are always on here wondering why they keep getting fired and then turn around and do it again. i.e. they never learn from their mistakes. In your case it sounds like you are taking responsibility (maybe too much in regards to the stolen parts) and hopefully learning from past mistakes. As long as you are not making the same mistakes, well thee is a reason first year drivers get paid so little. Has a lot to do with having to fix the damage the same drivers costs the companies. It's the business model they chose, so don't feel bad they get the negatives of it also.
