I'm no sure where you live at but I've seen Jobs asking for preferred experience of only (1 year) paying $0.55 to $0.60/mile. Truck Driver Class A $.60 cpm start IMMEDIATELY!! - Miami, FL - Indeed.com I don't understand any driver would even look at $0.46/mile? Yes, you haven't driven in a couple years as for a job however seeking how the overall industry is if you aggressively apply for reasonable paid jobs someone going to give you that chance. To much drivers only focus on one or two job applications without a decent resume when they should put more into their job resume and application which is the selling point for a drivers experience!

It would be a rarity for a Trucking company to even ask for a resume. Fill out an online application. 3-5 year job history, up to 10 years if in the industry that long. 3-5 year MVR. Background check. Some of those go deeper than others. If that checks out you'll be at orientation inside of a week.

The west doesn't pay as good as the east.

Back then it was around $.35.

Depends also on the cost of living where you are.

and home a couple nights a week and weekends off is also nice.

and how much home time do you want .
I know you need to earn a living but balancing home and family time with work is important .

the good money doing local or regional is in gasoline tanker or LTL at a union company like yellow or old dominion.

Nearly ever factory shut down. Shortages of everything and plenty of money to buy stuff when it’s available again.
