How can you get a gut wrap on a load easily? I would love to have it so that the straps can go down before it is loaded. But that is not a choice where I go? So how do you get the strap to go through to secure the load? I was thinking to use tape and my handle for putting my vee boards on in order to feed the strap to the other side. (Macgyver I guess)

I would love to carry a long pole for pushing straps through loads but that suck to store. I use a long fifth wheel puller, I can usually push the hook far enough under to grab it from the other side.

    cke Thanks this.

Get a retractable painters pole. $12 from Lowe's. Fits in the box under my sleeper.

You can use a piece of metal banding, like what goes around pipe, or a piece of rod, both are generally free trash at certain wholesalers or plants. Some form of stick or hook system is equip 101 for a flatbeder

I made a collapsible pole out of 1/2” metal conduit. Two 5’ sections that screw together. Then I ran some metal cable through the inside of the pole with loops sticking out of either end. I guess it sort of resembles one of those dog catcher snares used by animal control. Mainly I use it to pull chains through cable reels, but it serves many purposes.
