Monthly Safety Meetings

We dont do monthly safety meetings... We used to have to watch an assigned safety video every month. I would take a few hours before or after a run and knock out 6 months worth of videos ahead of time.

Now we have a monthly "Training" that is assigned... It is done online, takes 15 to 30 mins. Usually is a slide show with voice over, a few paragraphs of reading, maybe a short video, and then a quiz at the end. Most of these training sessions are material compiled by some outside safety organization, but there have been a few times where our safety guy has put together a YouTube video about a specific issue that has become problematic (ex. Improper use of PC, or When and How to use the Adverse Driving Exemption), at the very end of the video he would instruct us to call him for a brief oral quiz. These training sessions can be done anytime we want, preferably before the end of the month. If we fail to complete these training sessions the company can dock our monthly bonus by $50. On the first of each month a new assignment is given... Speaking of which I still need to do this month's "Training...

 

Video conferencing is getting more common. Also just videos of a certain topic are put online and required to be viewed within a certain time frame

 

We have had a few meetings in the past year and 1/2 I’ve worked here. Not always about safety though. One time someone #### all over the bathroom so that was the main topic once. The donuts are always terrible but there is orange juice and chocolate milk.

 

That explains the bathroom mystery. Case closed.

 

Safety notices sent out over the fancy thinking box in my cab. Every once in a great while online safety course that are required.

 

Safety meetings are held at 7am,,,i finish at 4;30 am so have never attended. Hourly staff are always there,,,for the donuts.

 

Monthly safety is done via a video and q&a in drivers room. Usually 2 hours.
Training is done in groups of 6 in office conference room w managers and corporate video. Usually 8 hours per for 1 or 2 days.No lunch.
Grievance and discipline meeting via zoom or conference call. 1 hour.No lunch.

All were previously done in person, w lunch.
