You really need to call every trailer dealership that you can and get one reserved now. It costs absolutely nothing to reserve one from a reputable dealer.

If I come across one I’ll let you know, otherwise touch base with me at the end of July.

Yes I’m going to call the places again in the morning. We are on one waiting list but I think that is 8 months or something crazy. But I will for sure touch base with you at the end of July.

    New trucks are the same..
I wanted a couple Peterbilt 567’s but my salesman said 1 year backlog.
The problem is that they can’t get the parts to build them.

Pretty much everything in life is back ordered these days.

Inventory of anything is dang near hard to find.

Well it's 7 months later and that $38k dry van (which you couldn't buy even back then), will now cost around $90,000.

This is absolute insanity, and I can't see how it can possibly last. My new truck is arriving in a couple of weeks - after a more realistic 6% price hike from the time I first ordered it, also last May - and it looks like I'm going to be doing power-only for a while. Or quitting altogether. Because there's no way on earth I'm remitting this kind of extortion.

Since my posts we have bought a flatbed trailer. We actually spent way more money on the flatbed then we should of but I’m not getting into that but my point being my husband and I are still running power only loads. We’ve did one flatbed load since having the trailer that was only to get to Texas for the holidays and mother in law rode with us. Keep in mind we are running power only dry van loads, last week we went to California and back and we net 12,500. This week we have done a Texas load and now getting ready to do another California ( as much as I dislike California) and we are going to net 16,700. So ya we should of bought a trailer back when people were saying new ones are 38,000 but at the time we didn’t have the money for a trailer. Now with trailer prices skyrocketed we are going to have to pull the flatbed or continue doing power only until we find a trailer that’s not 90,000 and I’m confident we will eventually find one we can afford. We have several people looking out for us.
In your situation seamutt I’ve seen people order these new trucks and turn right around and sell the new truck for way more than you paid for it and have a nest egg but in your case I’m thinking that is your only truck so I’d buckle down with it get on the power only train for the time being and I’m telling you you will kill it. Like many truckers on this board talk if you cannot make it during these times we’re doing something wrong because the is a gillazon dollars to be made out here. I know when we first made our move from under our companies wings we were like holy #### it’s a little tricker then we were thinking but you just have to be creative about where you dispatch yourself and the first couple of weeks may be rocky but you will find your rhythm.

There’s plenty of trailers for sale on Facebook marketplace and Craigslist .

have you looked on either one ?

We don’t do Facebook. Someone not long ago mentioned Craigslist. We will look into when we get closer to buying one again. Actually when the weather warms up a bit I’m sure my husband will get busy with the flatbed. It’s recently been so cold and the last couple weeks we’ve both had the snotty nose and cough. But thank you for the suggestions. Are the prices reasonable?
