Well I added another truck to my collection.
No smart ars responses to this about, “should of bought this, blah, blah that” I bought this, it was a good deal.
I always like to change as much as I can before I put her to work - given I know little about Paccar MX13 engine what should I be doing?
- engine oil and filters
- fuel filters
- get DEF filter cleaned ( maybe ? )
- cabin and air filters
ADDED
- clean EGR cooler
- Clean DPF filter
- Valve adjustment
- DEF dozer clean ( run DAVIE4 forced regen )
- Clean boost pressure sensor
- Clean EGR pressure sensor
- Clean DPF differential pressure sensor
.....still currently doing research and reading up on this engine as I post this thread.
( 510 HP / 1850 TQ, 18 speed, super 40 rears )
MX13, now what?

I’m a company guy so I can’t help much but I’ve been driving paccars for the last 3 years. They pull like slugs but they’re good on fuel if you spec them right and drive it right. They do not like idling long you should get an apu with it or have your own generator rigged in cause if you idle long it’s going to be in the shop ALOT. All the power is between 1250-1500 after you can feel the torque going down.

I have a strict no idle policy with my guys.
Also have a Maxxforce so I know all about no power ....hahah -
Oh also the fuel filters are even finer they filter on smaller microns (I think 8 microns) then the freight shakers so your drivers have to keep an eye on the fuel water separators they need changing more often especially in the winter.

If you have to pull the cam out the entire engine needs to come out first.........

Nox sensor were the main issues I had and random ghost codes that didn’t affect anything . When the def is overfilled it can throw a poor def quality code sometimes. Tell drivers to stop when it clicks don’t round off to a even number.

If n you dont have any history on the truck. Yes, to all you have mentioned.
Getting hooked up and looking at some reports could tell you if the aftertreatment is healthy status or not. -
