Well I gave up on the 2016 Volvo! It liked being in the shop too much! Liked the truck, hated having to move into a spare every other month. So now I'm in a 2019 Cascadia......... new truck.jpg
Back to the drawing board as far as antenna system is concerned. Luckily there is a boatload of info out there regarding the subject so I already have a plan formulated. Threads by @mike5511, @craig_sez (vids too) and others are a big help!
Just for farts and grins I threw the AA-35 on the OEM antenna just before I put the PC78 in for now.

Didn't think I would see that! Still wouldn't use a big radio on that antenna.
    Hope this works out!

Yes you will see that at the radio end but how effective is the system to transmit?

If experience talking to others using the OEM antenna holds true it's probably going to suck! Just going to run the Uniden until I get the stuff I need to attempt a proper antenna install.

You can talk almost as far as you can see the other truck on some of those stock systems!

That was a night delivery at an "Orange Whorehouse" (HD)! Home now. I was going to start setting up the radio system in the Cascadia, but the Missus has other requests I'd best attend to!

Yup! Spring has sprung and she wants yard stuff done!
I haven't finalized my power setup in the truck yet. I switch between 3 or 4 different radios so I have to square that part away. Power is going to come off the fuse box feed. Running straight to the batteries would be a bit of a PIA due to them being mounted between the frame rails behind the sleeper!
With your radio mounted on the dash, which I want to do, do you find it blocks your view of the fender mirror?

If you go by big rig radio down in az,they have a nice ss antenna mount..I have yet to call and get the scoop but it fits the last 2 body styles of plascadia..
Rather stainless over alumium..I noticed op of the lics is still useing an alumium adapter for the ant, that should be stainless as well..
Im gonna see if i can find someone local to me here in novascotia to make me the same as the alum but in stainless..
I can bet the mount in the pic is $50 but with duty,ex and shipping it will cost me a lung..
No more saveings for me cause i dont go across the boarder anymore..I used to have my stuff shipped to bangor maine to save duty and alot of shipping..
