dont worry too much about the hazmat it not bad at all. got my x endorsement (hazmat and tanker) about 2 years ago and it was a multiple choice test and it was in florida. usually alabama is more relaxed than florida so it might be easier for you. to me its more of a hassle placing placards and paperwork than the test was, dont let it worry ya.

I been kinda researching this my self. Mostly out of curiosity.
LTL seems to be where it's at. Guys are telling me company's like Old Dominion, Estates, YRC etc.. some hauling doubles some are not but they make that kind of money. I'm currently driving for Ashley as PTP driver so I'm not in that income bracket but LTL guys here are in the $100k yr range, you gotta lump the furniture to end of the trailer, typically that kinda of money (seemly) requires some physical lifting or something specialized like oversized, specialized car hauling etc..

You want the big money but don’t want to put in a very small amount of effort for it? Amazing.

Never said I wouldn't do it, good grief, love how quick you judge someone. It's a big hassle is all.

Read the hazmat section a couple times, take a five minute test, schedule and do fingerprints, wait a month for your new license to be mailed to you. It's not a big hassle. I have hazmat endorsement, and I don't even use it.

Went 3 times to a scheduled appt for fingerprint last year, all 3 times they had an issue with their system and couldn't process it. Said the hell with it.

I worked for a Fed Ex Ground contractor as a team driver. Worked 5 days a week, except Oct-Dec, 6 days a week. $100k/yr, no hazmat needed. You will need to find a good contractor though. Some are cheap. We drove a new 780 the last year I was there.
