Ironically it’s often a older driver that gets tagged for impaired. In my 25 plus years it’s often a older guy that I’ve seen drinking . As stated not4hire personal responsibility is the best old school.

I have a cheap MPOW headset but i can count on one hand the number of times I've used it while driving. Usually i set the phone to silent when driving

No such thing as too old school. As long as it doesn’t include being physically abusive towards your wife and kids.

I would actually say you are new school. I've been driving for over 20 years. I started very young taking grain into town. most of the old guys I knew drank on the job and alot more did coke. The coke helped them run harder, longer. Then I remember when ketamine was a thing. Guys would dip their tooth picks in it, then suck on that toothpick for hours. Anybody who had been around very long has seen the toothpick thing. So sir, you are wrong. Drugs and alcohol have always been a part of trucking. I've never done drugs and I don't drink alcohol. However, to each their own.

I have heard of the tooth picks. I just have always valued my license. I drank when I was younger, just never drank and drove. I know there where guys who did that kind of stuff. I also knew guys who lost their license and their truck because of a DUI arrest. But as you said to each his own.

They don't call it "dope" because it makes someone a better driver. But the snowflakes will make any excuse to have what they want and a few dead or injured victims and destroyed vehicles of innocent drivers is a small price to pay for someone having a chemical romance on public roads.

I value my livelihood, so I don't do any of it. It is too easy to get a dui these days. A few drinks isn't worth it to me. I personally know guys who always have beer in their trucks. They have a few at night with diner. I don't have an issue with that. Heck, I used to know a guy that had a kegetator in his truck.....no joke. When I ran heavy od, he ran my falloff. There were usually 4 or 5 of us who ran together. I took the crane/house and the others got the falloff. That's wasn't counting escorts and polecars. Anywho, on the weekends we would all ditch our trailers and goto the beach or a campground or whatever. The kegerator was put to use then. Another guy had his wife along and they carried alot of cooking stuff. It was good times. If a guy wants to do whatever, what do I care....that's his business....not mine.

It’s not just the driving part of it. A lot of people these days can’t pass a drug test on a pre-hire for a simple warehouse job. We’ve seen both youngsters and oldsters (lol!) sit in our parking lot before an interview and smoke a blunt because it is socially expectable to their peers. They think just because it is being legalized in certain areas of the country that it is ok here. What they fail to compute in their brains is it is not ok to do when you have a JOB. We also find beer cans thrown in the parking lot from some of them too. Lol!

I don't care what people do on their time but when its time to go to work (regardless of occupation) you better be sober and ready to go.

That goes with other things aswell. Like lack of manners, lack of hygiene, lack of customer service, tattoos, piercings....etc. Alot of folks in today's job market aren't even worth a second look. Most folks don't know or care how they personally effect the outcome of their situation. Because most folks think they are entitled to everything....and the govt encourages it.
