I have a friend who lives in Mexicali, Mexico. Has anyone had experience going into Mexicali as a US citizen? I would drive bobtail, or possibly walk through and have my friend pick me up? What would you guys suggest, and what should I expect as far as documentation and re-entering the US

    truckdriver31 Thanks this.

Do NOT take your truck across the border. You'll need a passport to re-enter the U.S.

Do you mean if I took the truck I would need a passport to re-enter, or I would just need a passport in general to re-enter? I do have a passport by the way

You are SUPPOSED to be required to show passport/card to reenter the US, but from personal experience that's a rule that isn't always followed. As far as the truck leave it stateside, vehicle theft is bad enough along the border, your risk goes up exponentially crossing it.

For God's sake, don't take your truck across the border unless you never want to see it again. Walk across and take a taxi or get picked up by your friend. As far as a passport goes, you need one to get back in crossing by land from either Canada or Mexico. It isn't like the old days where you only needed a driver's license.
