Fast food employees just went from making about 7-8 bucks an hour all around the country to making 12-15 an hour for standing around and trying to look semiconscious.

I think truck driver pay still has a ways to go upward to match that. 50cpm jobs should get a dollar a mile. Those 70cpm jobs should hit a buck 50 a mile. Won't happen though but it should.

Even CRE and Trans Am should eventually crack 50cpm in the trucker minimum wage segment.

What's funny is a cat trying to lick the butter off of the popcorn.

The government was arguably way more involved before the OOIDA strikes of the 1970s.

I'm pretty sure the CDL holder must also be on duty. And to be sleeping in the sleeper while logged on duty is a whole series of log violations....

Does anyone have any evidence of this? I'd like to read more about it.

Well after I retired from the military I took a couple years of vacation, then used the GI bill to get my CDL for free. When I was hired by my company they had a bunch of paperwork for me to fill out because they were going to be getting something from the government because I had been unemployed for more than 6 months.

6 months is the key to them getting paid. Its also why they offer a 5000 dollar bonus for returning drivers who were 6 months unemployed which I also took advantage of twice because I have a habit of taking year long vacations to the Philippines.

The newbs in the classroom have to pay back the cost of their own schooling. You're saying the companys also bill Uncle Sam?
