There is a reason why you can drive from NY to NC and see maybe 2 state troopers but by the time you are mid-FL you've seen 50... There is a reason why you goi through 4 weigh stations headed north on 95 in FL or 5 if you go I4 out i10 that are ALWAYS all open..
Now to be fair I've yet to have an inspection in FL, but I think that's maybe they don't screw with FL DOT's and maybe focus on out-of-state but nearly every weigh station I go through in FL I see someone getting inspected.
Every inspection I've ever had was a Southern state or New Mexico..
Edit.. I take it back... when I drove a Semi for Prime, my 1st and only inspection was in FL.. I completely forgot about that one, but for my own company, I've never had one here in FL. I pulled out of a rest area where I did a 10her reset and got pulled over 2 miles into my drive for that day and got a roadside inspection.
My assumption is they don't screw with in-state guys and focus on out-of-state.Last edited: May 28, 2021

Meanwhile here in FL, It's a rare occurrence that you can drive up to the corner store or McDonald's that is less than 2 miles from my house and not see a cop either going there or on your way home. It's the same way in Texas, GA all these Southern states are flooded with cops to tax you by citation to make up for no state tax..
Oh and I forgot property taxes.. Yeah, they have pretty high property taxes at least here in FL. I know people who are paying over $5k/year in property taxes but umm yeah no state taxes..God prefers Diesels Thanks this. -

Our primary operating area is the entire western half. That’s just what we focus on the most. The southern portion of the country that we run the most in is CA, AZ, NM, TX and LA. We have run in the southeast a lot over the years. Maybe it’s just luck but the dot doesn't seem to bother us anywhere we go. I’ve been in FL many, many times myself and I’ve loaded many trucks into and out of there as well over the years.

Yeah that's the "hidden" taxes they love to glass over when they talk how great no state taxes are.. I had no idea Texas was that high as well..
It's other things to. In FL I have to pay $200 just to get a license plate for a vehicle if I don't already have a plate. This isn't even the registration fee. It's a straight-up fee to buy the license plate.
When I lived in MA, I registered my personal truck for 2 years and it was cheaper than a single year in FL. Even with the yearly estimated value tax it was still less than what it cost to register a car in FL.God prefers Diesels Thanks this. -
