I'm with you on that! When I'm not driving I'm living overseas and it gets boring at times. I'm about ready to come back and drive again until the winter shows up. But to the original post, there is a shortage of pay more than anything else. Considering how much work a driver does for free, just to make things efficient and to stay moving, we are underpaid considerably.

There is no shortage of people willing to try out this job though. The problem is finding people who havn't ruined their driving record and are drug free.

Another word, there are too many Chiefs, and not enough Indians (to stay P.C. I should’ve said Native Americans).

a 10k bonus only pays a driver half of that due to tax rules with bonuses, so drivers see one number but get another. i guess its like saying you make 100k a year at your job, if you make 100k a year at your job you dont actually make a 100k a year at your job unless you dont pay taxes, ss , etc

But you are ok if you call them Oklahomans, which means the same thing, just nobody understands it so it's all good.

When I was going through CDL school that wasn't the case. I think wording was that the instructor had to be supervising or something because we would hit the road in 5 trucks and only the lead truck had an instructor in it. The trucks had 2 way radios and I think that was the loophole that allowed the other 4 trucks to just have students in them.

All of these 18-year-old illegals....I wonder how many will be driving a truck six months from now?

There’s no shortage of drivers. There’s a shortage of QUALITY drivers. Big difference.

The question should be, how many are driving now? I doubt if they go through the full process since technically they can't get a CDL as an illegal. I'm sure if they can get a fake ss# it's not a big deal to get a CDL.

A lot of these recent "asylum seekers", in my opinion, will probably be steered towards truck driving. Have to keep those CPM rates below $0.50.
