Since the beginning of February I've been running the hwy 401 through to Quebec's AutoRoutes 20/40 & 30 stopping at various Rest Areas. As of May, I shifted to Days now running West to Windsor and noticed even more problems in the daytime because of way more trucks running and stopping at the OnRoutes. The one on the Southside of the 401 in Cambridge, ON. had multiple trucks Parked in a live lane blocking anyone who's trying to drive through in order to park. Also, there was creative parking along the 'Bus/RV parking Only spots and multiple trucks Parked alongside the No parking fences. It's beyond a crap show now a days and No parking enforcement regulation what so ever.
Has this become the norm everywhere daily across Canada and the USA or mainly just Ontario? Back in the 90's a driver would ask another drive to not block the lane or the attitude adjusters would come into play. It's beyond ridiculous and just plan selfish and ignorant. Truck stops are a lot better for parking in the daytime but at night mostly in Ontario (haven't been to much others in the last couple years) it also include creative parking and live lane blocking.
Covid19 has caused a lot of shutdowns in Ontario but still the economy here has grown therefore more demand for products including exports throughout North America so more trucks/truckers are in demand. However, Ontario lacks proper Truck parking for the drivers who need to take their break!
Trucks Parked in Live lanes at Rest Areas is this now the Norm?

One word "Infrastructure"

And until they come up with a REAL infrastructure plan that addresses infrastructure and NOT social utopia it will never change.Canadianhauler21, BigHossVolvo, TheLoadOut and 4 others Thank this. -
Do they also keep cramming more planes in the air without expanding airports? doubt that, cause aviational transport has proper set in regulations. Those folks have brains and understand the importance of regulations, which keep us all safe. Unlike trucking where it's a god #### #### disaster! They want you to take all those rest breaks, but there's no where to take them. Mid flight, I guess, flip on the autopilot yah Bubbles? ok Ricky let's go. God #### trailer park, nothing else to it.

Don't worry, self-driving trucks will be here next week and we won't have these issues anymore

What gets me is you see them updating res areas with beautiful greenery in some areas. They have the land. It should be paved with truck parking. Not 25 spots. 125 is better.

Rest areas are definitely getting worse in or near tx you’re lucky if there’s enough room to maneuver through the rest area to leave I drive nights right now and trying to find a spot to take a break is a true pita I’ve taken to parking on streets, back of closed gas stations, and worse case on ramps between other trucks

I've seen rest areas in Nebraska & Mississippi that were so tight I moved on to the next "safest" location. There was plenty of land around both of those locations to build an oasis of a rest area, but instead they were ridiculously small.
None of the decision makers care about how their wine and cheese gets to the shelf, it just better be there when they want it.skipgears, BigHossVolvo, PiscesLuv and 1 other person Thank this.
