You mean he didn't inspect the truck? Sounds like he did do a level 3 driver only inspection. Post a picture of what he handed you.

I find it difficult to believe that only a warning was issued for these violations

Tell the while story rather than bits and pieces. That would be helpful for a helpful response.

How did they fine the company you are leased to but not you?

I've run into that before. Local deputies who don't know what they are talking about call inspections warnings and think they are doing you a favor. It's true you don't get points or have to pay a fine, but for a trucker those are not the biggest issues and an inspection is quite a bit more than just a warning.

"out of service" needs to be documented. When your OOS time is finished, how do you prove you're good to go ? If you have to.

First off, any officer that says they are doing you a favor by writing you a warning during an inspection is either lying, or doesn’t know his job.

And how do you get put OOS without an inspection of some sort?

And, you’re lucky there’s not a CSA for punctuation, or you’d still be out of service...

I’m having trouble following the story.

I've had plenty of enforcement officers look at logs without doing an inspection; almost every time being called into a scale.

So have I. They look at my logs and tell me to go. But if they had found something wrong and decided to nail you for it, the violations would have been on an inspection form.
