Companies that normally only buy new have been buying used lately because they want to take advantage of the hot market now rather than wait a year for a new truck.

I'm not 100% sure when he ordered them, but I know it was well over a month ago. The fact they have Cummings x15 and 18 manual transmission probably makes them a non stock order.

He also ordered a new milk tanker he is also waiting on

When I called around major companies like Schneider, Swift, etc have a 6 wk waiting period for new trucks that are coming straight from manufacturers but dealers are sold out until next yr. I know one O/O she was supposed to get her new truck from SFI this week but they told her today that the new truck won’t be ready for a couple more weeks. She already waited 6 wks and at this time it’s looking like she’ll be lucky to get her truck in July.

It doesn’t matter what you order. It matters what the dealer has for spots. End of April I put my order in, all we did was take an existing build spot the dealer already had and change the specs to what I wanted. It was Sept delivery but now I believe it’s Oct delivery. If the dealer he works with didn’t have any available spots then it will probably be 2022 delivery. If they had open spots it will probably still be a few months.

You havent been following tech news apparently for the past year +
My wifes desktop graphics card was made in 2016, nothing terribly fancy, paid 180 in 2018, i could sell it right now for 780$ but then she wouldnt have a graphics card at all because 780$ will barely buy the same thing back

    Shh…. That’s a secret!

seriously all my orders have been pushed to November and it isn’t because of chip shortage, Daimler ordered enough for this and part of next year.

Most, not all. For example, technically Lone Mountain is a lease purchase.

I don’t see what’s the problem in lease purchases. You pay a small deposit compared to what you’d need at a dealership do a short contract 1-3yrs make all your payments and at the end depending on the lease company make a balloon payment and get the title. And as long as you don’t abuse the maintenance account you can save up a pretty penny and use that for the balloon payment too. The payments aren’t even bad when you think about it $153k truck 80k miles warranty covers it up to 500k Or 600k miles I gotta check only $500 down a 3yr plan of course my payments are going to be higher but it’d be the same at a dealership once you add in the interest rates.
