After I was loaded on Thursday ( that pic was taken around 1400) it was 1600. I parked it at the shipper till 0230 and it was clear sailing out of NY and NJ. Then the speed limit signs were needed…but the rough roads will discourage speeding since your truck will loose parts before you hit the bridge!
To the NYC Drivers…. A couple questions…

And it wasn't just one guy there were always multiples of that guy on the road...MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
No secrets there...getting off the highway routes just makes it worse. The only other thing you could do is run 287 up around Rockland and Westchester County. It's not too bad now since the new Tappan Zee fully opened a couple years ago, and it's cheaper than any of the PANY/NJ bridges to get across the Hudson, especially during off peak hours. Then drop down 95 to the Throgs Neck and so on. You miss some of the crap part going that way, but it adds miles. You also can and will sit in stop and go traffic on 287 at the wrong time of day.
Usually when I drew an LI run I'd just take the Goethals and Verrazano and deal with it. I was paid by the hour hauling cans so didn't matter much to me. Coming back over I'd do Throggs Neck and GWB but taking BQE in was the most convenient from where I was starting out in NJ (Linden/Cranford area)jjthomas89, MACK E-6 and ncmickey Thank this. -

Whatever you do if you travel through the boroughs have a really good map book.
I can't remember exactly how I did it but one time I turned on a road that had the same name but it was such and such road instead of such-and-such Avenue I think and that was a really really really long day that ended up with me stopping in front of a low bridge and the police coming to stop traffic so that I could back into a tiny little alley littered with cars.
No tickets but wow that was a rough day.Siinman, austinmike and MACK E-6 Thank this. -

Never seen the overheight truck restriction thing though, and I used to go through there all the time.
There's plenty of stuff a 13'6" trailer will hit in NYC, but not on any of the interstate routes. You're not necessarily safe from that on all on the highlighted local truck routes on the map however. Learned that the hard one way one day lol!
