i am wondering how do they cool 770hp with hood

 

something on first sight normal, which become common in many EU countries.... but very different than it looks on first sight

in germany they can be 25.25m on certain routes. to comply with turn radius dolly needs front steering axle, which is highly complex, expensive and very heavy (dolly weights 7000lbs)
alternative is short WB 6x2 truck with steered tag axle and long overhang, hook placed far back and selfsteering axle on semitrailer.


this is something quite different, truck is 4x2 with swap body (EU solution for LTL).
such trucks always have deep low trailer coupling to save space between truck and trailer thereby miximizing body length. here drawbar is attached to this hitch too, but drawbar is fixed on the truck frame and cannot rotate, but instead there is additional trailer hook placed on the dolly and this is actual articulation turning point.
that way drawbar act as extended truck overhang and it take trailer out while cornering, so truck comply with turn regulation with very simple technics.
underneath fifth wheel there is a ballrace turntable to minimize drag, so trailer follows better.
problem is how to reverse this, i find it very difficult as "drawbar" (actually distance between trailer hook to 5th wheel) is about half of length it should be.
weight of this dolly is only half of "real" dolly

 

we have annual permits of 23m overall, you get them for 200€.
if you will be able to get dolly and semitrailer under same papers, same registration etc. and make it in eyes of law like modular trailer.
this would be possible.

 

Interersting, but do you think will this work when they increase total weight to 60 tons?

 

I guess a 53’ trailer and a 280” wheelbase tractor ain’t gonna pass your turning radius laws....?

this is annual oversize permit not actual 25.25m. if you find way around they might consider this as a one trailer (not two), that way this configuration can travel in this form, but max 40t in case of pallets.
we have 5axle 44t and 6axles 48t for machines etc.
