I gotta look up those breathing exercises.... I could use it. I just had high blood pressure when I got my last physical. Never had a problem before. Just was nervous I guess.

But Stepha.... you can get your BP checked somewhere else and have the results sent to where you get your med card. You can even use your primary care doc ( if you have one). sometimes we just get anxious during the physical and our BP is up. It's now happening to me too.

Ugh. The sodium is just as prevalent as the sugars. Time to start reading the labels again and making exclusion zones in the grocery aisles. I remember picking up some chicken curry at that "Taste of India" in San Jon NM. Some older fella driving for UPS with a bit of a weird speech impediment actually asked for more salt in an already salty dish. I mean just the weird pauses in the guys voice made me think he had, or was on the verge of an artery related episode.

I have the same problem. The second I walk into the joint I can feel my heart start to race and my numbers are off the chart. I don’t know what to do anymore because when I check it before I leave it’s in the 120’s and 80’s and pulse in the 80’s. I am so sick of these DOT physicals!!!!

What gets me is why there needs to be stupid crap throw in to the exam.

They always do the usual pee, eyes, pressure, breathing. Then throw in different stupid crap.

The last one made me walk on my heals and toes.

Donate blood, first of all there is a shortage. Second, it causes you to make new blood which is thinner and lowers your BP. I just had a Doctor pove it tom me. I went in at 150 over 100. Donated a quart and i was back to 120 over 80 in three weeks. So next physical donate three weeks before, it's worth a try.

I think you meant pint not quart. I give blood regularly and it's always been a pint. I may be wrong and other places besides the Red Cross may take more but I haven't heard of more than a pint there.

    firemedic2816 Thanks this.

It probably is a pint, it was 500ml what ever that is. But it really did work for me. Pretty smart doctor in my opinion. My regular doctor wanted to put me on BP medicine, but he referred me to a heart guy who had me try this. I think I will donate a little more regularly.

Sorry, I just looked it up and 500ml is just over a pint. Looked like a big bag of blood to me.
