    3k right now. Schedules depends on the run you pick. Some are 648 a day 630, 615 ,600, 550, 520, etc all the way down to 347

    Estes for extraboard drivers starts out at $0.685 CPM.

    Estes for linehaul drivers on dedicated runs/bids starts at $0.655 CPM.

    Estes for P&D city driving starts out at $26.15 per hour.

    That $0.745 CPM might be top out pay (I'm not sure what the top out pay is though, to be clear) but it's not starting out. And it takes 3 years to get to top pay.

    These numbers are for the east coast or "Estes East". I think the west coast or "Estes West" has different payscales, at least for linehaul not sure about P&D daytime.

    Just wanted to be clear, new drivers at Estes will not start out making $0.745 CPM.

    Drivers getting out of training now start at .47 at PTL. I started there a little over two years ago at .38 though most of that raise has come in the last couple of months.

    2000 miles at 38 cents a mile comes out to 760 for the week
    2000 miles at 47 cents is 940
    Thats a pretty substantial raise right there for those starting at the bottom rung

    So not to derail this thread, but quick question.....

    My local Estes (northern new england) had posted a position called "combination regional OTR and local driver". I might not be completely accurate on what it was called but it's close. Would you have any idea what the pay would be for something like that? Just curious.... I applied multiple times but couldn't get in. I'm a rookie driver and after some experience I might try applying again.

    I'm new to LTL and new to the different types of jobs and their official job classifications.

    From my understanding the job offerings for LTL (at least with Estes) are classified as linehaul (either dedicated or extra board), hub, combo and P&D drivers.

    If that advertisement had the word "combination" in it, then I think that means a combo driver. From my understanding combo drivers do all that's asked of them. They can do linehaul, they can do local P&D and they can also do dock work. So for example maybe they call you in and you run a city load in a 53' single trailer. You get back after 3 hours and work the dock for 3 hours. Then you go ahead and run a linehaul run pulling doubles and go to one terminal and then come back to your main terminal to end the day.

    Or one day you could be doing all dock work. Or all city work. Or all linehaul work. Just depends on what they need and from my understanding, your sleep schedule might not be consistent either. I think linehaul or P&D are way better jobs than combo, but to each their own.

    So basically your combo position pay as a brand new driver with Estes would be:

    1. Working the dock: $26.15 per hour
    2. Doing city driving within roughly 60 miles of the terminal: $26.15 per hour
    3. Doing linehaul runs: $0.685 CPM and about $8 (I can't remember exactly it's between $7-$8) for each set (of double trailers) you put together and break down

    Again I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure that's how it would work/it does work. Definitely ask your hiring manager though to clarify pay and what the job entails, just so you're sure. Also I think with Estes you might lose your seniority if you switch from combo to hub to linehaul to P&D. So ask your hiring manager about that too as it relates to pay, vacation time and bidding on runs (for linehaul) or start times (for P&D).

    I also think you need 1 year experience (not sure if it has to be OTR though, but it might I'm not sure). Depending on your terminal they may or may not be more lenient on this if they are desperate for drivers. You'll need your tankers, doubles & triples and hazmat endorsements too. Hope this helps.

    Not bad pay rates either, I think it’s very competitive. Definitely more then I’m making now. Thanks again!
