And if it makes you feel better I know 2 other people with the same issue you and I have and had that ran theyre isxs out past 900k dumping oil in them before they blew up knocking a hole the block .
You got a longs ways to go lol.

 

Throw a gallon of Wally World tech 80/90 gear oil in it. According to RAWZE website, its recommended by the Cummins guru.

 

You would have big time performance issues if you still had the DPF. Your in your last leg my friend.

 

Yes, Walmart Supertech gear oil. It’s no different than Lucas at half the price plus it has additives that the newer oils don’t have anymore. GL 4 or 5 is want you want to add. 80/90w is what you can start with, or go with the 85/140. Its not gonna hurt anything. Check out RAWZE. c o m site. Or Bob the oil guy. Very informative sites.

 

The thicker weight oil will lessen the oil you need to add. It will buy you some time but be prepared to do an inframe as it is inevitable at this point. There is no way to know how long you have just baby it as much as you can until you can do the inframe.
Keep in mind the current issues with parts availability is really bad right now and only getting worse. If you can get the parts ordered ASAP so you won’t be waiting for parts when the time comes to do the job.

 

If you want to really know what’s going on, get a dyno with a blowby, the blowby will tell you what condition the rings are in.

What oil are you running now?
If you are using 10w30 switch to 15w40 at your next oil change.
It makes no sense to use and burn lighter, more expensive oil and then add something to thicken it up.
If you are not very far into this oil change you could get 3 or 4 gal of the blue restore and add it as you need to or drain off a bit of oil and add the 4 gal at once. This might prolong your overhaul for 400 bucks.

 

I'd keep doing what you have been doing.
A gallon of oil in 3200 miles is not excessive so I'd keep changing it regularly.
I didn't write mine off until it got down around 1500 on a gallon .
