But keep taking your time, missing out on money and telling yourself "its the smart thing to do". Besides the trucks you are looking at are all at least 3/4 of the way through their life cycles before they're going to need major work, which I'll assume you know #### all about.

Right, unfortunately, my crystal ball didn't tell me of the coming price increases or I would have responded differently. But yeah I wish I would have bought a truck before this all happened.

Both my western stars I have ordered and bought new. Both out of warranty one is almost a million miles. Team operation
3% idle time. Both trucks have Apu’s
Def filters get changed every 100k I don’t give a shot what maintenance interval says. 7th injectors changed every 100k
Do not run the below 1/4 tank of Def. Air drier changed yearly. Good clean air is helpful with emissions system.

Yes lot of work however neither these 2 trucks or my previous 3 other emissions trucks have been in shop for unscheduled down time.
These new trucks require a different operation and maintenance. Something most fleets and some O/O don’t understand. They do breakdown maintenance not preventive maintenance.

remember “ proactive maintenance beats reactive maintenance every time” cheaper in the long run.
Pull rig dig reports, ecm dumps when you narrow trucks down take to a good independent shop and go over with a fine tooth comb. Money well spent. Try not to buy from Arrow truck sales. Just fleet trucks that have been ragged out and lipstick has been put on a pig.

Today's high prices should get covered fairly quickly by the high rates. Its a bad time to replace equipment but it's a good time to add equipment. Compare paying an extra 10k now versus how much income you'd lose by waiting 6 months. I think buying now is the way to go.

Makes sense to me. No way around it really. Typically when freight rates go up so do truck prices. It's just we have a double whammy effect being the shortage of used trucks due to the shortage of new trucks.

Huh, that's interesting stuff. A regen every morning, seems like that would waste a lot of fuel but I guess in the grand scheme of things it's really not that much. And I've also heard of drivers changing their oil every month whether it needs it or not. They say you'll never have to do a rebuild if you change that often. Of course, you're probably paying for the rebuild through the barrels of oil you're using every year lol.

Their last trip from South Carolina to Idaho , they got 3.6 MPG

doing a couple of regens isn’t going to be noticeable on the fuel use.

and they usually get $9.50-10.00 a loaded mile.
Couldn’t believe they came back from Idaho to Florida empty, but they had another load waiting back in Jacksonville headed to Austin Texas at $10 a mile.

Couple months back they deadheaded 5 hours, loaded some oversize and hauled it 3 hours, unloaded and deadheaded 8 hours back home. Was a load that had had had to get to the port and be loaded on a ship that was leaving, Musta paid real good,

Dang, must be nice, getting $10 dollars a mile. But I bet running those oversized loads is stressful, to put it mildly.
