i am a former broker but looking to start my own thing on east coast. noticed that lots of food companies want to ship 1-2 pallets of product and not enough for an entire FTL. reefer sprinter vans seem to be my option considering im starting out by myself.

anyone have any experience or advice? best types of reefer sprinter vans to purchase/lease?

I can't say that I have experience but I have been curious and done some research on this kind of thing myself. seems like it could be a good thing for sure.

Temp-controlled LTL kind of already exists, it's called foodservice. But there may be a niche market in dock-to-dock delivery that I'm unaware of. I'm subscribing to this thread and hoping more knowledgeable folks will chime in.

Well, what you're thinking of is the distributor delivering their own product, like Sysco. That's a bit different than the LTL game as you and I know it with a reefer attached.

Not really. There are tons of FS outfits that don't deliver their own product.

They don't deliver Core Mark Brand foodstuffs, is what I mean. They deliver name-brand supplies, whether they buy them at wholesale or contract with the makers, IDK.

How you gonna load pallets in a sprinter van.
The equipment you need is totally irrelevant.
You couldn't pay me or most other drivers enough money
To do multiple LTL stops with a reefer.
That's nothing but multiple problems all day long.

    It's sounds good on paper.
But there's a reason nobody does it.

    Bob Dobalina Thanks this.
