Hey everyone just trying to get some information and advice I want to look into schools. I was looking at 160, I heard they offer some sort of payment plan I wanted to try and pay out of pocket first so I am not stuck in contract to any company but if my finances don’t allow it then I will have to look into contracted companies. If so, I just don’t want to be gone for too long or too far with wife and family at home. Ideally I want a job where I can do my route and come home daily, this is why I wanted to aim for paying out of pocket. Any advice for jobs I can apply to after school that offer something similar? I would not mind driving out of state for a dedicated route then coming back home end of day as I’m use to doing that already for work now. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

With being in a metro area look a yellow or fed ex as both offer CDL training and then local jobs after completion of training. Chinatown will agree with that I think. You can also check out food service or beverage companies. Many of them will train you for a CDL as well. That's very physical work so keep that in mind.

One Las Vegas driver was just hired with Oak Harbor Freight Lines right out of school.
This would be a good company for what you want.
This company usually requires 1 year experience, but sometimes takes a new grad that has all the endorsements.

160 is probably ok also. The better companies want graduates from accredited cdl schools.
160 may be accredited, but call and find out.

FedEx Freight/FedEx Ground hires some drivers right out of school and puts them through their Driver Development Program.
Sometimes will hire a driver trainee that has a CDL-A Permit.
- 1 year driving experience OR FedEx approved school
