1977 White Western Star 4800-1 front rear spring hanger replacements

New to this forum and looking if anyone has gone through a replacement or upgrade to the front rear spring hangers as the originals aluminum are both cracked.
I have found two from a 2002 which are steel and clearly stronger but holes are different as well as the spring pin distance will be 1” lower from the bottom of the frame. Easy enough to have new bronze bushings made to accept the original 11/8 spring pins but just check in case someone has already done it.

Thanks I think we are on the right path with the newer Western Star part.
Luckily the fronts were fine perhaps because this doesn’t have the tilt front end just tilting fenders and they are supported off the frame

Pretty much finished with the replacement front (rear) spring hangers
Had to have the bushings made up so we could still use the same shackles and pins so we didn’t have to change and make the spring bushings.
And I guess we lucked out on the Fronts as they were already made of steel.
A few more things to do and then the old girl is roadworthy again!

 

Not sure who Baird is but we are in Kelowna BC Canada were it was actually built as a White Western Star 4800-1. So far our best guess is that it was a BC highways truck with perhaps a snow plow as it was originally all Yellow and the box isn’t all beat up so might have just carried sand!

Yes great trucks and a loss for Kelowna when it left.
Have a few friends that used to work there.
Truck was up around 100 mile house in 2015 and seems to have been used in Bc Forestry support.
Someone had already done a engine and trans swap out from the original 6V 53N and the MT 650 with a Cummins and a Fuller 8LL.
No idea of who or where but all in all I’d say a fair enough swap and still running strong.
