You'll have to travel to Midland, TX at your own expense. They will put you up in a man camp during the week of orientation which takes place at a hotel. Transportation between the man camp and the hotel is on you. I recommend renting a car for the week if you fly in so you're not spending a fortune on Ubers. After a week of orientation with rude, condensending instructors you'll get assigned to a "mentor". Yes, drivers with years of experience and even drivers with years of oilfield experience are assigned to "mentors" like they're new CDL school grads. Of course your continued employment is entirely dependent upon that "mentor" signature. He doesn't need any reason what so ever not to sign off on you so you better kiss his butt and stay on his good side. If he doesn't sign off on you then his word is everything and any objections you have will fall on deaf ears. You will be fired immediately and ineligible for rehire. In that event you will get to travel home at your own expense having wasted alot of time and money for nothing. The "mentor" is rude and on a power trip. He will let you know that your job depends upon his signature and that you had better shut up and do as he says irregardless of company policy. He will also let you know that his word is what matters not yours. He might only have had a CDL for a couple of years. You may have been driving truck as long as he's been alive. That doesn't matter!! Welcome to the oilfield.

This is my theory on why they have mentors.

They know that anyone that would give them a second thought after being told “you have to get to orientation on your own dime”, and that the same potential employee is willing to rent a car or Uber to get to class every day at their own expense, when there are a thousand jobs that will pay for it, probably isn’t someone that should be blindly trusted to have sense enough to be able to do the job without considerable oversight.

Of course, that’s just speculation on my part without asking the person in charge of the outfit.

I took an Uber once. I dropped my car off at a place to have some work done and thought to myself " this will be a dandy opportunity to use my newly acquired Uber app." Everything worked as advertised + the lady driver had bottles of cold water and Hershey's chocolate minis for her passengers. I felt special, then I thought to myself, " I am special I own the 121st largest leasing company surpassing several other lesser known outfits. BYOB&CBD Leasing making your financial dreams come true .

No type A in the car, eh? So much for “inclusion”.

Well, come to think of it, her whole set-up was kind of undead exclusionary, what with the ROSARY hanging from the MIRROR.
