I think a statement I've made in the past about other companies bears repeating by what I read about FCC. A sign of a quality company isn't whether or not problems pop up. It's trucking, and problems are part of the game. But the sign of a quality organization is how they deal with those problems that makes the difference. And it sounds like FCC goes above and beyond to try to deal with the trucking hiccups that pop up in a fair way, be it compensation or a different load when something gets cancelled or rescheduled. No, they won't give a driver the moon and stars, but a fair resolution not only takes care of the driver, but builds a level of dedication between the driver and the company, which in turn helps keep the driver in the seat, and helps make them more understanding and patient the next time something happens. Which in turn boosts the driver's level of customer service.

Perfect example of that just happened to me last night. I dropped a load on the Council Bluffs yard, set around for a couple of hours waiting to get a PM done. Had a load to pick up in Omaha afterwards that I could have picked up either early this am or late last night. Since I had a 2-hour break waiting for my PM I went ahead and split my logs giving me enough drive time to get over there pick up that load and get out of town and shutdown that way I could get it picked up last night and have it out of the way in case they took a while. My DM is on vacation and the one covering for her told me it was going to be a live load. So I had to go through a big Fiasco with night dispatch trying to find a empty trailer at the yard last night. I finally got one and headed over there at about 11 p.m. last night. My dispatch info said 1600 - 2359 for the pick up time. So, that tells me they are open and will load me when I get there. I get there and they're closed. The night crew fumbles around looking for bills since there was no trailer number on my dispatch which meant it was a live load. The kid says well, if it isn't loaded our loaders don't get until 6 a.m.! So, I go ahead and take my 8-hour remaining break on their yard and go in this morning to find out it was preloaded and setting there all #### night! The flunkies at the nightshift at the shipper didn't know that, also our office kind of dropped the ball in a way by thinking it was a live load. I figured oh well, I needed an 8 hour break anyway. After I sent my loaded call this morning, my DM lets me know they've got some layover pay coming my way because it was supposed to be preloaded, wasn't expecting that, and it wasn't necessary, but a #### nice gesture.

You guys think FCC will ever give company drivers a choice to fuel at Love's?

I know they let the owner operators do it because one of them replied to me about it on this thread. Do the company guys ever push to fuel at Love's or not really?

Love's is where it's at. They're building a lot of new stores with no end in sight and there new stores are nice. They have the best rewards points too I think.

We fuel at loves all the time. Just depends on where you are, where you are going and fuel prices in the area. The fuel solution is a computer program that automatically kicks out the fuel stop based on how much fuel you have and where you are going. But we fuel at all the major chains Pilot Flying J TA petro and loves. Most months I reach platinum level at loves, just depends on the area of the country you run and the fuel prices, the software will have you fuel where it's cheaper

About a week ago my DM sent me a message...Your getting lay over pay... I didn’t ask for it or was expecting anything.
It really surprised me and was very happy in getting the extra pay.
They sure look out for you ;)

Oh, I could've sworn it was said in this thread that company drivers fueled at Pilot/Flying J. I might have gotten that confused with the Magnum Thread though. That's good you get enough fuel at Love's to get platinum level on rewards points each month. I didn't know the company drivers were able to fuel there.

That's nice that was the only negative I could think of was that I didn't think you guys (company drivers) could fuel at Love's. Really nice to hear you usually get to Platinum Level for your free monthly showers there.

Yeah, it is nice. But like I said, it's kind of hit-or-miss just depends on the fuel prices and where it is cheaper. Some months I fuel at Pilot Flying J more, other months it is loves. Every once in awhile a TA or Petro. But those are usually pretty rare, at least where I run anyways

Another thing about the fuel solution, it will just automatically kick out what it thinks is the fastest route to where you are going from where you came from. But, if you have time on the load and we're going to stop by the house, or want to take a different route or something because of traffic or construction you could just let your DM know and tell them where you would like to fuel and they will change it. Example, going from Kansas City to the Dallas area the fuel solution will always want to send you down 69/75, I usually always run I-35. So I just send my DM a message and they change it. It is as simple as that.

You said you run the Midwest Regional Route with FCC, right?

On the FCC website it says:

Our Midwest Region runs freight between Nebraska and Pennsylvania delivering in the following states: NE, IA, IL, IN, MN, KS, WI, MO, and OH. You can expect to run 2,500 to 2,800 miles a week with the option to go home every weekend. Mileage pay is based on experience and work history; our Midwest Region company drivers earn an average of $75k per year! All of our freight is driver no touch freight and we offer 70% drop and hooks.

I live in NC but been thinking about moving up to the Midwest. Do you think Sioux Falls would qualify for the Midwest Regional Fleet since it's a straight shot (from Omaha) on I-29 and only 3 hours north of Omaha/Fremont?

If not, would Sioux Falls qualify for the OTR van division of FCC? FCC doesn't have a hiring map area but I would think Sioux Falls would be within their hiring area for their OTR division, have you ever met any drivers from South Dakota? I know they have a lot of North Carolina drivers if I were to stay here.

Also I saw this (quoted below in italics) and I like this a lot. My previous OTR company was no forced dispatch in all 5 boroughs of NYC as well. I do not want to touch that city so good to here I wouldn't have to deal with it if I didn't want to (which I wouldn't want to). How often is the OTR Van Division in the Northeast?

Not forced into New York City but receive $0.06 per mile extra to deliver freight into the 5 boroughs of New York City
