That’s up to the company to decide. But, if they keep someone around, they still owe them for work performed (including accessoral pay).

If there are workers doing above and beyond, pay them extra if you want, but you don’t not pay someone money due to them because they don’t go the extr mile. You don’t like someone’s work, you fire them. But, you still have to pay for the work they did.

Dude set for 17 hours. I’d want my money too. I wouldn’t care if it was $20. It’s mine and I’d ride them like a porpoise at Sea World until I got it. Lol

In @frank Speak’s case,if you’re lucky you might find a Kentuckian in the mix...

Pohl is Fair , they're in business to stay in business though.
    A layover pays a hundred , detention is 20 ph .
A few weeks back was Catapiller / Atl .
Now I should have been paid 5.5 hrs detention. 110.00
Instead was paid a day layover 100.00
If I let that 10.00 difference bother me after 33 yrs out here , then I'm not giving myself a fair chance.
I know 10 bucks is 10 bucks. But I always keep in mind I get miles home too.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

$10 times 50 drivers a week maybe? That would be $26,000 a year profit, stolen from drivers.

I make roughly 30$/hr for detention pay. Starting after two hours and it back logs.
I rarely have to mess with big companies so 98% of the time I’m unloaded or loaded within an hour.
Even when I’m dealing with big companies I’m usually in and out before 3hours. Sometimes I feel bad showing up when a guys been there for several hours then leaving when he isn’t even in a door yet.

If companies made these places pay for the detention there would be a lot less slacking off about loading trucks. I know I experience it.

alot them do the driver still wouldnt know that so that money would still be going 100% into carrier to everyone but the driver. that said they cant control a shipper or reciever in how the operate.

There is a trick about the 17 hrs. After 8 your time rolls over . Go onduty to ck on load then back off. No 10 hr break was ever done. Did this a few times with roehl they had a fit and had to pay by there own rules

JoeyJunk, 88 Alpha and bzinger Thank this.
