Hey guys, so I’m about to buy a rig and run under my dad’s authority. I got quoted 14k annual for a 2022 Pete 389. I’m at roughly 1.75 years in, clean record, low to mid 20’s in age.

I was told the rate will drop once I hit my two year, only reason why I might buy now is to get my hands on a rig that I want before 2023 models come in.

Fair quote for insurance? Too much?

Does that include 1 million liability coverage or does your Dad cover that with his authority?

Oof. That is something I’m going to have to look into. I just barely skimmed the surface with his insurance agent and she threw out some numbers that she got from a few insurance companies. Will need to go through what my dad’s policy exactly entails. Still learning everything before I pull the trigger.

    Few things..

1st is what state is the DOT numbers from?

$14k for a 20 something driver with less than 2 years is not bad if you are east coast, west coast or Texas ect,. (ie high population states)

However, if you are getting $14k quote and you're based out of Missouri, OK, AR ect.. (ie out west somewhere out west) then it's not so great.

1 other thing, you are 1.75 if you wait until 2 years on the CDL it should lower it some more.

PNW is where I’m located, and only reason why I might not wait is so I can get my hands on a Pete before inventory goes slim to none across the states.
