If you've already made up your mind and have no doubts about what you're doing, what made you ask?

Seriously, first chance you get, please go to a hardware store and buy some chains and binders. On that machine, 1/4" should be plenty. You're talking to truckers here. We don't believe in the concept of "overkill".

6,500 lbs., So two indirect tiedowns exceeds the working load limit. It is on tracks so friction is a factor.

I don't think it's illegal and just wanted someone to refute it or confirm it (I know "just because it's legal..."

All good. I'll just research on my own and make use of the plethora of info at my finger tips.

    Sorry for the trouble.

Not trying to start a pissing match here, those tiny 1s have no spots for chains, I’ve hauled similar stuff, strapped over the tracks. If the machine weighs 6,000lbs 2 straps is sufficient. I prefer chaining over strapping, and trust me there is nowhere to chain on some of the really mini machines. Terrible designs.

Artax, DrFlush, cke and 2 others Thank this.

I wouldn't do it. Tracks can pop off pretty easily. IMO chains are the only correct way to secure construction machinery.

Also the bucket should require securement as well. Guys have been nailed for unsecured loads for not chaining down the bucket.

7000lbs your good to go. There is a minimum to be legal and what we would all prefer to be ideal. Sometimes we have to secure the minimum because its the best u can do. Secure the bucket because hydraulics alone is not legal.
