I live less than three miles from my present job, but I used to have to drive across or around Dallas about 40 miles each way for three years to get to my last job driving buses. It was charter work, so my schedule was pretty unpredictable, if I was lucky and didn’t have to drive during either rush hour it was generally under an hour, but I’ve had two hour drives home more than a few times.
We do what we need to do, I guess.
How far to the yard?

i find it interestingly funny, how we are (or were) truckers and drive hours and hours and miles and miles, yet we don't wanna drive too far for a job....

My dad did a 50 mi commute on all back roads for 3 years and he would crash out as soon as he got home. Found him sleeping in the car a few timesLtlAnonymous, wtlong88, Bob Dobalina and 1 other person Thank this. -
Also, it's a tough way to have to operate if you have an hour plus commute after working a 14+ hour day.LtlAnonymous, '88K100, Danny707 and 3 others Thank this. -

Now i have a 5 mile ride to the yard. Can't beat that. Used to park the trucks about 25 min away. That extra 30 min of sleep is awesome

Old dominion and ups have terminals in asheville..ingles in black mountain fedex in fletcher. Now if you live in sylva/cherokee or Franklin yea, you're kinda hosed..nothing out there. I think there's a gas outfit in waynesville shelton? Wasn't for the ridiculous commutes I would have stayed in WNC
LtlAnonymous, wtlong88 and jmz Thank this.
