Always on the lookout for a KT or KTA Cummins. I really like my 13 speeds so, just wondering what torque rating for 13 would be necessary for 525-600hp KTA? My current N14 has a 1,500 torque rating.

A stock KTA 600 is rated at 1650. Tuned I have seen them produce up to 2000 easily.

Keep in mind that when the KT and KTA Cummins were the hot set setup a 125 transmission was the heavy duty ones. And they seemed to stay together, closed case no coolers

In the mid to late 90s many KT and 3408 engines were picked up on the west coast from CA to BC by a group of Aussies who shipped container loads to their operations down under where they built road train tractors.

Most western trucks in the late 80s and 90s running KT and 3408 engines ran 15 speeds or 5X4 or 6X4 transmission sets to run mountainous country.

Yes they were mostly in older trucks when I came across them in the late 80s when I started running the wet coast instead of the midwest.

Plenty of K series were sold here right up until the late 90's... in fact you can still buy a New Kenworth Fitted with one.

14613 too. Lots of big power back then was behind those 2. I like the feel of how they shift compared to the RTLO. Ours will run about 190 on a hot day.

The 15 is a good transmission, but there’s several duplicate gears between deep reduction and low. I really like to be able to split my high side, so a higher torque rated 13 or 18 speed, would be my choice. I’ve never understood the love for the 15 compared to a 13 or 13DO.

The deep reduction on the low side. If i had a choice I'd take an 8LL over a 15
