The recruiters are actually honest. So is management. Everyone, really. They do what they say, and say what they mean. This also means that while some places offer 65 cpm during a good economic season, Grand Island Express maintains a more conservative rate to ensure that if, say, an unexpected pandemic hits, they can maintain your pay rate consistently and even follow through on the $1,000 minimum weekly guarantee you're promised -- even if the cost of freight drops so low it's cheaper to park the truck than run.
Dispatch collaborates with us to choose loads. No forced dispatch to any place I don't want. Usually I run about 3,000 miles a week. The range can run from 2,500-4,000.
My first pay raise came after 3 months there, at 2 cpm. In my first 15 months there, I've seen a full 10 cpm pay increase. They really like rewarding good work.
If you make the effort to be a safe driver, Safety rewards you. Partly with bonus pay, but mostly by staying out of your business and trusting you to do your job just fine without any micromanaging b.s. Drivers who say otherwise are seriously stretching limits -- like holding a phone in their hand and texting, then saying they "just barely touched" the phone. No they didn't. I just barely touch the phone for audiobooks and music all the time, and the Safety director wants to clone me.
They feed us good at monthly cookouts. The CEO knows all our names, even with masks on, and never forgets any one of the 150 of us no matter how many months since he saw us last.
They build relationships at every opportunity. If you're the kind of driver who wants the highest-paying cpm all the time, with no concern for being part of an interdependent team or long-term outcomes, Grand Island Express isn't the place for you. But if you're into giving great service, and want to invest in people who invest in you with impressive dedication and compassion, Grand Island Express more than earns its place on the Top 20 list, all 10 years in a row.Anonymousproxy and Bumper Thank this. -
I'm getting back into trucking and am trying to get a list of companies to shoot for. I'll likely need to get some recent experience but I'd like to have an end goal in mind.

Monthly cookouts don’t pay the bills. How do these companies make the list makes me wonder smh.LtlAnonymous and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
Agreed. All that matters is what you take home. I've never seen a company have an ounce of care or loyalty to a driver so why should an employee care about a company.
Some managers I've jumped through hoops for but they had the workers back.
I'll go with whoever pays the most and for that I'll give an honest days work without any drama.LtlAnonymous and Cheezy_smile Thank this. -
