Two weeks notice.

So after looking for local work earlier this year and going through the trouble of getting my current employer to confirm that I’ve worked for them, I was talked into staying with them out of convenience. Now I’m in an instructor role at their driving school but for a multitude of reasons, this job isn’t working out for me. Hell, this company isn’t working out for me.
My problem is that I’m looking for local work here in the city I live in and positions fill up so quick. I would have to schedule orientation two weeks after background checks/drug tests/etc and by that time the local jobs are already taken. I’ve dealt with this for months. I’ll set an orientation date and get called by the company and they tell me the position is filled and if I want to do regional work.
So, as much as I want to be professional and give a proper two weeks notice, despite the fact that my current carrier doesn’t deserve it, I’m thinking in order to advance my career and land a local job like I need right now, I will need to forego the courtesy of two weeks notice.
What do you guys think?

 

Thank you. I started with this carrier so they’ve been my only employer. I know it’s not required but wanted to make sure it wasn’t going to put me on a black list for future employers. I will look into temp agencies in my area in case I get desperate. I’ve got to start making real money again .

 

Though that’s a good idea, that is not an option for me. I need to be home daily

 

I don’t mind as long as it’s local, but no listings for that type of job and pay is frequently not enough.
