I got some experience driving heavies decades ago in the Navy Seabees, though I'm afraid I will pretty much be starting fresh as a new CDL driver. And frankly, I'm now too old and too rich to want to be anything other than a retiree owner/operator with a hobby that pays - not become a junior fleet driver. So first, thanks very much to the group of posters here who constantly tell newbs that the O/O route absolutely can't be done by new drivers. But sorry, after doing much research, I've basically come not to believe you. However I am concerned about what markets may be like in different parts of the country. That is, what may be a good market for truckers in the industrial/low wage Southeast, may be a much tougher prospect in my home area, the Pacific Northwest (and I would generally want to drive only regionally here, not long haul).
As I can't seem to log on to any of the load boards to check things out for myself without first having my DOT and MC numbers - my 'authority', is there anyone here who would be willing to provide me with a basic overview of what the freight market situation is like in the Pacific NW? If so, thanks.
Before I commit, what would the Seattle area be like for an O/O home base?

Most SeaBees are bullheaded. Even so, the Navy named a ship after one. One of my son's was EO2 when he got out.
