Just keep an eye on it. If that one goes out of adjustment again you're likely ready for a new slack adjuster.
From what I remember, standard type 3030 has a total stroke of 2-1/2". A long stroke 3030 (identified by having square ports where the air lines thread in) has a stroke of 3".Vampire Thanks this. -
that replaced the brake chamber. It looks like he never adjusted the brake afterwards. -
you can have correct brake chamber and cut to correct length, you can also have a good slack adjuster. BUT if your s-cam is old as hell, its completely wore out wear it sit sits in both scam bushings, that are probably completely wore out as well and you will NEVER get the correct brake stoke. The s-cam axis will be way off. Probably something you ovelooked. To check this, release parking brakes and get under thre with a prybar on your slack adjuser and check all that slop on your s cam shaft. I just replaced all my cams on truck with 600k on it. should have been one long before that. truck stops on a dime now and no over stroke at all.
God prefers Diesels, Dino soar and Mr79W900A Thank this. -
Also I just wanted to add that when you replace your brake Chambers, unless you yourself have replaced them before and did all the measurements, always always always use a square and do it exactly the way they tell you to measure the length of the rod.
Before I put my truck in service I replaced all of my brake Chambers and everything involving the brakes actually.
None of those brake Chambers were cut the same, and I understand that's pretty common that when you have it installed somewhere they cut it pretty close or however it is.
Not good enough!
You need to use a square and measure exactly so that when you hit those brakes you have the correct leverage at all of your brakes to stop you on a dime.
And make sure your cams are good and your cam bushings and everything else... it all works together.Rideandrepair, spsauerland, God prefers Diesels and 2 others Thank this.
